City Parks Alliance (CPA), founded in 2000, is the only independent, nationwide membership organization solely dedicated to urban parks. It unites and serves a growing network of hundreds of civic and community leaders, government agencies, park and recreation authorities, funders and others working to reclaim and transform thousands of parks nationwide.
The mission of City Parks Alliance is to create vibrant and healthy parks and green spaces that contribute to sustainable cities by organizing, facilitating and nurturing a broad-based parks movement. Our members share a common vision that everyone in urban America will live within walking distance of a park that is clean, safe and vibrant.
At the heart of our work is our goal to enhance the ability of communities to achieve their aspirations for their urban parks. To achieve this, CPA works with local park agencies and advocates to:
- Strengthen local capacity to create and maintain urban parks
- Promote innovative, equitable public-private partnerships and new funding models that sustain parks
- Increase federal, state and local investment in city parks
The 2012 Greater & Greener International Urban Parks Conference in New York City will advance our agenda for urban parks and bring together leaders from across the country and around the world to discuss, network and showcase the best ideas, the pressing challenges and the necessary investments needed to support vibrant parks and livable cities.
